Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 3, 2026 · For the bgm.fun website and the Neat Quit macOS app

We collect as little as possible. Neat Quit needs no account, contains no ads, and does not sell or share personal data. This page explains what actually happens when you use the site and the app.

1. Visiting the website

When you browse bgm.fun, the server keeps standard access logs for security and troubleshooting. These usually include the time, request path, HTTP status, browser identifier and IP address. The logs are not used for advertising, profiling or cross-site tracking, and are retained only as long as server operations require.

The site does not set login or advertising cookies. It loads fonts through Google Fonts, so your browser makes requests to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com; Google may receive your IP address and browser identifier. If the fonts fail to load, the page falls back to local fonts and remains readable.

Some links point to external sites such as GitHub. Once you open them, their own privacy policies apply.

2. App permissions

Neat Quit asks only for the permissions it needs to close windows, and works only after you grant them.

  • Accessibility (required): used to read window and button information from the target app, decide whether the clicked window is the last standard window, and send a normal quit request. Without it, the red-button feature does not work.
  • Input Monitoring (optional): used only when you turn on “⌘W smart quit”, to recognize the ⌘W shortcut. It is off by default; if keyboard monitoring cannot start, the red-button feature still works.
  • Launch at login (optional): registered through the macOS login item mechanism and controlled by you from the menu. No background daemon is installed.

Window titles, shortcuts and frontmost-app information are processed in memory on your Mac for immediate decisions. They are not uploaded and not written to logs.

3. Local data

App preferences are stored on your Mac with macOS UserDefaults (identifier com.yinzhenyu.smartclose), including:

  • the on/off state of smart quit and “⌘W smart quit”;
  • the exceptions list (app names and bundle identifiers);
  • the launch-at-login state.

This data never leaves your device and contains no window or document content. Uninstalling the app may leave the preference file behind; you can remove it with defaults delete com.yinzhenyu.smartclose in Terminal.

4. Network requests

The app checks for updates at most once a day at https://app.bgm.fun/appcast.xml, and you can also check manually from “About Neat Quit”. An update check sends the current version, build number and system version to that address. It does not send window content, usage history or directly identifying personal data.

New versions are downloaded from app.bgm.fun or the project's GitHub Releases. The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDK.

When you buy Neat Quit Pro, payment and tax are handled by Creem (creem.io) as the merchant of record. We never receive or store your full card details. Creem shares the order status, email, license key and activation count with us so we can issue, validate and support your license. The app sends the license key, device name and activation status to the bgm.fun license service; it does not send window contents or other usage data.

5. Website analytics

The website currently has no visitor or download analytics enabled: no analytics script is loaded, no analytics cookie is set, and no browsing events are sent to third parties. We cannot identify individual visitors or track them across sites.

If minimal analytics is enabled in the future, it will record only the page, version, download click and coarse technical information, and this policy and the server configuration will be updated first.

6. Sharing, retention and security

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and do not use it for advertising profiles. Data is not actively shared with third parties except for the hosting needed to serve downloads and updates, or when legally required.

The site is served over HTTPS, and the installer is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple. Server access logs are retained for an operational period and then deleted or rotated.

Payment data is processed by Creem under its own privacy policy at creem.io/privacy.

7. Policy changes and contact

When features, permissions or data handling change, we update the date at the top of this page and, when needed, note it on the site or in the app. Continued use means you understand the updated policy.
